Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran is, at present, having its training and research centre at Nashik road, Nashik. Training on various technical and non technical matters are checked out and conducted through the training centre. MJP staff as well as staff from local bodies all over Maharashtra have to travel to Nashik road. At present no research activity is undertaken in Nashik road training centre.

Need for the subcentre at Nagpur.

Technical and non technical staff of Vidarbha`s 10 districts and staff of local bodies have to travel to Nashik road for attending a training programme thereby incurring additional expenditure on traveling and losing time in traveling for which reservation are easily available. Not only the staff but many faculties also are from this region, which needs additional expenditure on the traveling and daily allowance and accommodation. If a subcentre at Nagpur is given, it will not only save the time and money but also encourage more participation from staff who is averse to traveling.
This proposal was given a serious thought and a discussion with senior and experienced staff was held. Feasibility of the proposal was considered and following prominent plus points, pertaining to developing a training centre, came out strongly in favor of the proposal.

Availability of Infrastructure & Facilities in the field of Education.

Space requirement for the proposed subcentre is one of the biggest requirements and the same can be made easily available at the offices at Telankhedi. Necessary space for housing classrooms, library, chemical lab and administrative staff can easily be made available, furniture and laboratory equipments, however will be required to be procured.
Hostel accommodation can be made in the same premises or MJP`s guesthouse which is at walking distance from the office complex.
Nagpur has many organization of National repute viz, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Vishvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering many Engineering Colleges. Maharashtra remote sensing application centre, National Beauro of Soil survey and land use planning, which give participants a very good opportunity to interact with the various experts, visits those premier organizations.
Nagpur has many water works and the region is abounding with different types of water supply schemes. Variety of sources, variety of problems which gives a very good opportunities for case studies, nature of sources, areas having problems in flurosis, salinity which not only makes to good case studies but make the participant aware of the possible problem areas.
Nagpur has a unique STP which is very good example for sanitary engineers. Nagpur has water works based on different technologies, which gives an opportunity to the participation for live demonstration and process of treatment.
Nagpur has many eminent experts in the field of water supply and sanitation, namely Dr. Bhole, Dr. Dhabadgaokar, Dr. Mhaisalkar renowned structural engineers like Shri L.K. Jain, Dr. S.S. Kulkarni and experts in distribution system Dr. P.R. Bhave. Apart from these many experts in the field of HRD and computers are easily available.
Nagpur is centrally located and well connected by train, bus and airways and various courses of National level sponsored by CPHEEO and other organization involving participation from all over the country makes Nagpur an undisputed choice of the participants across the country.
Proposed space for the training centre is calm and quiet, spacious and conducive to the training activities. Considering the ambience of the premises and it would definitely be providing a very good atmosphere for learning.

Nashik Research and Training Centre was established in the year 1985 with the basic objective for imparting training to the engineers and staff in Water Supply & Sanitation sector. The training facility is also made available to the Engineers working in the Zilla Parishad, Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, GSDA and the Engineers nominated by the Government of India. The training center is headed by Superintending Engineer and is supported by 6 engineers and 17 staff members. The center now organizes about 60-65 courses per year. The training Center also conducts professional exam for MJP Engineer such as Deputy Engineer/Assistant Engineer/Junior Engineer, in addition to the usual training programmes.

Facilities in Training Center

At present two courses at a time can be conducted in this training Center. The Center has two class rooms equipped with Audio Visual media. A library having 1200 books and video cassettes on different topics, a computer cell and a well equipped laboratory are also available for the trainees. Lodging and Boarding for 50 participants as well as for faculty members is available.
